Rounders match 16th
July
We had arranged
for the annual thrashing (sorry that should be Rounders
match) between ourselves and Rhyl & District MC to take
place on the 16th
July at the Salusbury, Tremeirchion. An early
start was arranged for 7.15 to make the most of the
light, well you would think organising an outdoor
activity for the middle of July would be a safe bet
wouldn’t you, oh no, not with our damn summers!
I sat in the office watching the rain
bounce off the window from around 1.00 onwards and by
4.00 had decided it was time to phone Baz at Rhyl to see
what he thought about alternative options for the
evening, we thought if we played rounders we might need
a shuttle bus to take all the people with broken bones
to Glan Clwyd as it was so slippery underfoot.
A few quick phone calls managed to
summon up a Wii, thanks to Stuart Thomas and Rhi & Joe
for letting Daddy pinch their games console again! A
quick text to Kate Shone for a couple of extra
controllers, Rhyl would supply the TV and it was sorted,
Rounders match became Wii Tennis tournament for the
night, inside in the dry.
Well the game may have changed but
with lots of enthusiastic swinging of arms and jumping
around from several people we managed to win, the final
score being 6-3 to CVMC. The night was rounded of
nicely by the Salisbury providing chip butties for all
those concerned and a few drinks. Thanks to all
those who turned up, even those people who bottled out
of the tennis and disappeared home early, it really was
appreciated.
Let’s hope next year the weather is
kinder and we can get back to winning ways outside.
