Well
as per the norm when we’ve done this show we had fairly decent
weather. The early shift of myself, Stuart Thomas, Eddie
Blackwell, Carl Lumb and Derek Jones arrived bright and early
with Pete Williams (man in charge for the day as Stu Jones was
poorly 'ick) ready for the normal tussle with the Easy up.
Amazingly, this year we remembered to pin the sides to the frame
before hauling it skyward which made the job much easier.
Next
to arrive was the Car Park Attendant, Myfyr Owen, well we
thought if anyone knows about parking cars it should be him!! As
it was, it was a damn good decision as the plot was humongous,
much larger than past years so Myf carefully spread out the 12
cars to allow for maximum viewing possibilities!
A big
thanks to the following people for bringing their vehicles:
-
Paul Davies in his
“classic” Subaru Impreza
-
Kev Hamilton, Pat
and Lee Whittaker for their lovely old Minx
-
Will Rowlands for
his fantastic, Kermit the Frog Green, Mk II Escort
-
Peter King for the
Midget (all fixed at last)
-
Derek Jones for
polishing the MG (for a change)
-
Myfyr Owen for the
highly polished Avenger and the “far too clean to be a
proper rally car” Evo
-
Matty Jones for the
starry eyed 106
-
Lynne Barnes’ Dad
for the amazing Jeep
-
Pete Williams for
the Pocket Rocket Fiesta
-
Brian Howatson for
the Morgan (which he has bequeathed to me in his will, I’ve
always wanted one, even if I can’t see the end of the
bonnet)
-
Steve, Linda and
Andrew Ellis for their “Best on Stand” MGB - Steve’s smile
was even brighter than the paintwork when he found out.
Also,
a huge thank you to all those who helped out with tea making
duties whilst I nipped home for a couple of hours to do my Nurse
Gladys impression. On that note a big thank you to Stu
who, even from his sickbed, rallied the troops to bring cars for
the day – and was seriously brassed off that he couldn’t be
there.
It
was fantastic to see so many club members turn up on the day, it
is a really great social event and everyone is always very
impressed by the size/quality of the show, and the fine weather
was a bonus.
To
finish the day we discovered that we had been awarded 2nd place in the
“Best Club Stand” category by Clwyd Practical Classics, thanks
to Jan Thomas for being bothered to go across and receive the
award on our behalf. (report & pics courtesy of Pat Jones)
