Clwydian Cars Stage Rally

 20 entries came in before the deadline for the 'Free Entry Draw' and one of twenty numbers got drawn at prize giving and had their entry fee refunded.
Congratulations to Richard Merriman and Kath Curzon who had a great days motorsport, picked up a second in class award and went away with their entry fee refunded. Result!

2010 Results & Awards

There were good close battles in all the classes (report courtesy of DVT):

Class A (up to 1400cc): Dyfed Pritchard led up to SS3 when Gareth Roberts pulled level.  Then Dyfed moved ahead and was 7 seconds up after SS9.  Gareth overcame this to lead by 3 after SS11 then Dyfed pulled back 2 on SS12.  Gareth won by just one second.

Class B (1401cc to 1600cc): Geoff McQuilling and Chris Phillips were equal on both SS1 and SS2.  Then Geoff took 1 second lead after SS3.  SS4 and SS5 saw them equal again, before Geoff started to pull away to win by 11 seconds.

Class C (1601cc to 2000cc): Aled Charles led after SS1, then after SS2 Will Rowlands was 1 second up on Richard Merriman.  After SS4 Will was 8 seconds up, then lost it so after SS5 Richard was ahead by 2.  Will then took the lead back after SS6 and was 8 up after SS8.  On SS9 Will lost 12 so Richard was ahead by 4.  The it went the other way, Will beating Richard by 12 to take the lead back, eventually winning by 11 seconds.

Class D (over 2000cc and overall): Ken Pugh led over the first 4 stages, so was 3 up after SS4.  Gwyn Thomas took 5 off Ken to lead by 1 after SS5, gradually increasing to 6 ahead after SS8.  The Ken lost 11 seconds to be 17 down.  Ken won the last three stages but could only pull back 11 seconds, losing the class (and overall) by 6 seconds.

Class E (Road Rally) was won by Stephen John and Paul Roberts

Best CVMC Award went to Jonathan Whalley and Peter Dennis

Mixed Crew Award went to Geoff Jones and Beth Evans

Clwyd Vale Motor Club welcomes you to the 11th running of the Clwydian Cars Stage Rally held once again at the ‘Ranges Motorsport Centre’ on 22nd May 2010. We will be running a slick sealed surface event of 12 stages maximum which gives you, the competitor, good value for money.
Central servicing and no ‘chase’ cars makes the rally a great event for the budget conscious competitor. For novices or newcomers to stage rallying, it gives the ideal introduction into this format that will give you a good grounding for your future career. After a very successful tryout last year, we are again running 3 loops of 4 stages. Be aware that this may have an effect on the amount of fuel that you carry. Also, in order to give you a full days Motorsport, the Trophy Class will have 2 re-starts; at Stages 5 and 9.
You are advised to get your entry in early because, for the first time, the event is now a round of the "Steve Harkness Competition Tyres Welsh National Tarmacadam Championship" as well as the "ANWCC Stage Rally Championships", which should help promote a healthy entry. The event is also the first round of the ‘ANWCC Trawsfynydd Rally Challenge’, so get your points on the board early and let the rest play ‘catch up’ on the next rounds.
